United States

Incident: National Day of Observance for former President Jimmy Carter
A National Day of Observance has been declared to honor the death of former President, Jimmy Carter.
The Postal Service will suspend regular mail deliveries, retail services and administrative office activity on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
There will be limited package delivery service on January 9 to ensure the organization does not experience any impacts to its package delivery operations that may negatively affect customers or business partners.
All Postal Service facilities - including Headquarters in Washington, DC, and area and district administrative offices - are included in the National Day of Observance.
Local managers will advise employees on staffing levels to maintain operations and prepare for the resumption of regular activities Friday, January 10.
Belgium

Incident: National strike - 13 January 2025
bpost would like to inform other countries and their designated operators that the major Belgian unions have called a 24-hour interprofessional strike, commencing at 00.01 CEST on 13 January 2025.
This industrial action may affect mail and parcels deliveries, as well as bpost’s domestic and international logistics network.
Furthermore this strike will likely also involve ground handlers and other airport and airline personnel. Therefore, disruption is to be expected with regards to the handling of inbound and outbound airmaildispatches at Brussels Airport.
Consequently, delays are to be expected with regards to mail and parcels that will arrive in Belgium around that day.
Spain

Incident: Update message about torrential rains in Valencia
Correos wishes to update IPC members that distribution and logistic operations in the area of Valencia affected by torrential rains have resumed normally in all postcodes.
Work to fully recover the area is still underway.
